The Super Heavy Weights boxers gave an awesome display with Farrington fighting for the first time in 2.5yrs it was a nail biting fight with the decision going to Evans.

Potter four wins from five fights

February 23rd 2006 Police Senior light welterweight boxer Danny Potter kept to his winning ways by out pointing Bredbury & Stockport's, S. Ramwell at Penketh Conservative Club on Thursday 23rd February 2006.  Ramwell was a very strong small stocky fighter who took the fight to Potter.  But Potter used his reach advantage and kept Ramwell on the end of his jab.  Danny used the ring well not getting drawn into a toe-to-toe fight which would have suited his opponent better.  Potter kept composed and took a comfortable clear points victory.
On the same bill schoolboy boxer Danny Craven boxed very well taking the contest to his opponent Wade Barrick of Newbury & Farnworth club.  Barrick put up a good fight but could not keep up with the constant pressure from young Craven bombarding Barrick with head and body shots earning Danny a well deserved win.  Danny is Bridgefoot ABC's newest fighter to get medicated and has worked very hard and shown a lot of dedication in such a short time.  Good lad Danny, keep up the hard work!!

The show had 14 contests, with only 2 Bridgefoot boxers on the bill, due to illness and opponents dropping out.  Its always a nightmare trying to match up a show, every effort is made to get as many of the clubs own boxers a contest.
First up was Danny Potter who will be in his final season next season, ABA rules dictate retirement at the age of 34.  Danny was up against Nichols Police prospect Danny Randall.  Both guys gave it their all, with Randall winning the first 2 rounds and Potter coming back in the 3rd.  It wasn't enough for Potter to win and Randall won on a point's decision.
Danny Craven had a return contest against Lloyd Riding; the boys fought 2 weeks previous in Burnley.  Craven had to use the ring well and keep on his toes as Riding is a very strong puncher with both hands and Riding wanted to stop Craven.  Craven caught Riding with some excellent left right combinations stopping Riding in his tracks.  Riding also caught Craven with some good shots; both boys gave it their all.  In the 2nd round Riding put Craven under a lot of pressure for about 20 seconds. Craven then got his composure and started to come back, catching Riding with some very accurate shots.  Referee Mick Jones had to give Riding a standing count in the 2nd round, as he couldn't breathe properly, Riding also started to be sick.  The contest was given to Craven as Riding could not continue.

Lee Ward Junior ABA Champion

Bridgefoot ABC hot prospect Lee Ward was in fine form on Saturday 6th May.  Ward was crowned 48kg Junior ABA champion, after stopping his opponent Danny Perry in the 3rd round. Both were up for the fight and came out very aggressive, but Perry kept holding Wards hands, which stopped ward getting his composure. The first round was scrappy.  Ward took the first round 5-2.
Ward had the measure of his opponent in the 2nd round, catching Perry with some nice left hooks and a few right uppercuts which rocked Perry's head back. By the end of the 2nd round Ward was getting to Perry, who also got a public warning for holding.
In round 3 Ward was on fire leading 15-4, every punch he threw rocked Perry. Ward gave Perry 1 standing count in the 2nd round and 2 in the 3rd round.  The Referee then stopped the fight to save Perry anymore punishment.

14 yr old Jordan West was in action, he boxed a very awkward Jordan Killen from Larches & Savick, Preston. West took a points decision at the Preston & Fulwood show.
Danny Craven was up against it in Burnley. He fought L.Riding from Sandygate ABC. Craven boxed out of his skin moving all the time, giving Riding no chance of landing his powerful shots.  Craven did exactly as he was told, kept to his fight plan and won a points decision.
JUNE 06
Four Nations Silver for Lee Ward

Lee Ward had his first England International call up in The Four Nations Junior Championships. In The Olympia, Liverpool on Saturday 24th June.  Lee boxed in a straight final.
Lee's opponent was the very experienced and talented John Joe Nevin, an Ireland International, who's Local Club, is Caven of Mulligar, Southern Ireland. Nevin, with a record of Seven National Titlies, Two Four Nation Gold's and a Four Nations Silver, which is very impressive for a seventeen year old boy.
Lee boxed well but still has a lot more to offer.  After an excellent season, winning the Junior ABA Title, after only his twentieth contest, Lee did not fight to his potential. John Joe did not have it all his own way, having to work hard to keep away from some of Lee's attacks.Lee had the most success in the first round catching John Joe with some good left jabs and a couple of body shots, Ward was ahead after the first round.
John Joe was a very good Counter boxer, who caught Ward with some good shots in the later rounds, by not get involved with Ward and using his International experience to keep out of trouble. John Joe still got caught with some good shots from Ward.
The final score was 19 points to 7, at the final bell giving Nevin, a clear point's win on paper, but not a true picture of the Final Result. Ward was disappointed at losing the contest and can do a lot better.
It was also difficult for Lee, having someone in his corner who he has never met before, also for the
England Coach who had never worked with Lee Ward.
Good Luck to Lee for the future, but what a season. Junior ABA Champion, Four Nations Silver Medallist
and his first England call up in only his third season.
Bridgefoot coaches Amanda and Derek Groarke congratulated Lee and the rest of the Bridgefoot boxers on an excellent season.
