Hook & Jab members visit Ricky Hatton

Members of Hook & Jab boxing gym would like to give a big thankyou to Ricky Hatton for allowing them to watch him train on 12th Dec 06.

He was in training for his next big fight against Juan Urango, in Las Vegas on 20th Jan 07.

Ricky is a true peoples champion. Even though he has such a busy schedule, he still has time for all his fans who go to visit him.

Some people had drove for 5 hours to see him workout that day.

Amanda would like to thank Ricky for the special time her son Harvey had, it was a day to remember.

Ricky also signed gloves for us all, and posed for many photographs.
AGAIN a big thanyou from all at Hook & Jab!!

On Thursday 29th March 07 Amanda and Derek were invited to Green Lane Special School to watch a performance by the children.
Hook & Jab in conjunction with Bridgefoot Police ABC, has donated a substantial sum of money to the school from raffle sales and auctions.  The school bought a karaoke machine, a DVD player and a set of speakers, so that every Thursday morning the pupils can have a singing lesson.  All the kids really enjoy the lessons and take turns on the karaoke, singing their favourite songs.  It was a real pleasure to watch how the kids performed their own songs; I have to say it brought a tear to my eyes (Derek).  Lets hope they get hours more enjoyment!!
Lee Ward reaches Royal Navy ABA Finals

Lee Ward won his first ABA junior title in 2005-2006 season.  He will be fighting for his second title in Crystal Palace May 5th 2007.
He will either be up against Danny Perry who Lee stopped in last years final at Barnsley, or Danny Lawlor of Birmingham ABC.Lawlor beat Lee in a very close decision in Watford at the start of last season.  Lee isn't too bothered who he fights but would relish the chance to even his and Lawlor's cards.  Lawlor was last years Junior ABA champion in the weight below Lee and also this years CYP champion.  Good luck lads, they will be fighting in the 48-50kg class 6 category and the contest will be 4 rounds.

5th May 07 Lee Ward wins his second ABA title against Danny Lawlor Birmingham ABC

The day went really well, with both guys answering questions, and posing for pictures with members of the gym.  They also gladly autographed gloves fo ra few people.

Tim Witherspoon is the former W.B.C and W.B.A heavyweight champion of the world.  He defeated Frank Bruno in 11 rounds at Wembley Stadium in 1986 to retain his world title.

Ernie Shavers was regarded by many experts as the hardest puncher in heavyweight history.  At one stage in his career he won thirty fights in a row all by knockout, twenty of which were in the first round.  In september 1977 he lost a close decision to Muhamad Ali at Madison Square Garden for the world title.
